Marcy Gutierrez

Marcy is a founding Partner at Gutierrez, Perry & Villarreal, LLP.  Marcy has been working with public schools, for the benefit of public school students, her entire career.  She started out as a high school teacher in the Sacramento area roughly two decades ago, where she taught history and government.  Given her interest and passion for education, and desire to see improvement in our educational system, Marcy transitioned from her teaching career into the field of education law.  For the last twenty years, the primary focus of Marcy’s practice has been in the area of special education.  Marcy has devoted her life to advocating for public schools, as a parent of children who attend public schools, as a teacher, and also as an attorney.

Marcy is a frequently requested presenter, and has presented numerous times for the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), California School Boards Association (CSBA), California Council of School Attorneys, as well as school districts, county offices of education, and SELPAs throughout the state of California.  She is also an Adjunct Professor at California State University, Sacramento, where she teaches law and ethics to students working towards a Master of Arts Degree in the school psychology program.

Marcy earned her undergraduate degree from University of California, Davis, where she earned her degree in Political Science.  She earned her law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.

Marcy lives in the Land Park neighborhood she grew up in, and is the mother of two girls who attend a local public high school.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family whether boating, skiing, doing arts and crafts with the kids, or just hanging out.
